The Lazy Apprentice
My inspiration for this project came from my life-long love of stories and magic. While The Lazy Apprentice approximates the conventions of fairytales, it is far more Brothers Grimm than Mother Goose. Inspired by Zipes’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: An Anthology of Magical Tales, this hypertext narrative traces one boy’s struggle to defy unjust authority and escape his abuser. My story allows you to explore the darker archetypes of mythology and fairytales as you guide the apprentice toward freedom.
